From auditing for Deloitte to building the methodology my younger self needed
It's 2008. I'm sitting in a client's conference room at midnight, surrounded by GL printouts, trying to find duplicate payments in a SAP environment with 2 million transactions. My manager wants the report by 9am. Random sampling says everything's fine. My gut says it's not.
I started my career as a financial auditor at KPMG in the late 1990s, right when companies were rolling out SAP at scale. I was 24 years old, sent to audit ERP systems I barely understood, with no methodology, no tools, no senior help. The data was there. We just couldn't see it.
Three years and dozens of audits later, I noticed a pattern. Brilliant auditors at every company I worked with were stuck doing exactly what I was doing that night: random sampling because they had no better tools. They knew the answer was in the data. They just couldn't get to it.
So I started building. First custom Excel scripts. Then templated dashboards. Then a methodology — what would become the 300Framework. Then training programs to teach it. Then on-premise software to scale it. The 300Framework Platform now powers the audit work of 200+ companies. The 300 Academy has trained 2,500+ practitioners.
